Certified Log Cabin Homes
Certified Log Cabin Homes are available for full time residence. Certified cabins are inspected during manufacturing. Some states like Maryland require all cabins to be inspected and certified. All certified log cabins and homes must be installed on block foundation or concrete pad. Masonry and foundation work not included with our pricing.
Our double wide log cabins are priced as certified homes. The single wide recreational cabins can be upgraded to certified cabins for about $4,000 to $6,000 depending on the style. The certified homes are can also be built under the recreational cabins. Typical savings are around $4,000.
Certified Cabin Standard Construction
- 2x8 floor joist5/8" plywood floor
- 2x6 walls 16" on center
- 22' wide 2x8 rafters with 1/2" sheeting
- 24' x 26' wide truss with hinge 5/12 pitch
- 30 year architectural shingles
Insulation on Certified Cabins
- Floor R-22 and Walls R-19
- Ceiling R-30
- Insulated Windows
- Fully Vented eaves and ridge vent with air baffles in roof as needed.
- Additional insulation depending on state requirements
Foundation for Certified Cabins
Certified homes are required to go on block or concrete foundations. Full basements are also acceptable. Center of double wide cabins require pillars approximate every 8' or steel beam.
Sill Plate Requirements
Log cabins going on foundation require pressure treated sill plates. Anchor bolts must be counter sunk and be cut flush with top of sill place.
Installation crew will fasten cabin to sill plate before installing bottom row of log siding. The two halves of the double cabins are lagged together.
Delivery of Cabin
Log cabins are delivered on large truck and trailer. These trucks require good access roads.
Crane Required to Install Cabins
Cranes are required to install cabins on block foundation. Our double wide cabins include $1,500 for crane cost. If you wish to provide the crane, we can deduct $1,500. Our single wide cabins do not include crane cost in base price. If crane is needed for single wide cabins, the crane cost will be added to price.
Space Required for Crane
A crane normally requires an area 40' x 40' next to the foundation. This area needs to be completely clear overhead, including power lines and tree branches, and must be decently level grade. It is a good idea to have the crane operator or anther experienced person check out the area before delivery.
Electric Package Certified Cabins
Certified homes require electric do be installed and tested during manufacturing of cabins. Receptacles, lights, fans are all installed and tested before shipment. An electrician is required to hook service up to panel box. Panel box, lights, and receptacles can all be modified to fit your needs and the layout of your lot.
Plumbing
Plumbing is stubbed in crawl space or basement area. You are responsible to hook up water and sewer as needed.
